THE HOME ON WHEELS THAT WON'T ROLL...
One fine sunny Sunday morning we planned to set off on our home on wheels with our first stop being the Sunday morning meeting and then on to Whistler. Our home on wheels had other plans. Already running a bit late we piled into the camper and turned the key and it spluttered very reluctantly to life. We bunny hoped down the road (all 30" of us) and came to halt at the intersection. "I no!" said Rene "I'll jump out and run around checking all the tyres" and he did but nope they were all in good form. We hoped on the highway and with Reon's foot flat to the floor we managed 80k's and then the engine died. Our home on wheels coasted along - we'd start it up, it would choke, cough and splutter and die again. It did one final breath and then wouldn't turn over again. We pulled over onto the side of the highway and from here on there is pictures to go with the story....

"Oh no" said Rene and Reon "Our home on wheels has died on the side on the highway!"

Lets pop open the hood and have a little looksie

Nope can't see anything wrong. Hmmmm I wonder what the problem is???

Lets stand around, shuffle our feet and scratch our heads and maybe the answer might come to us....

Nope... still nothing. Team meeting!! Calls the girls coz they are more likely to have an answer to the problem then us... Nope no answer just a cheesy smile from Janelle.

Lets look left and right for a gas station, maybe we need more gas. Nope can't see a gas station!!

Safety first! Lets put out our little triangle Jim left in the camper for us - thank you Jim!!

If we look at the camper from this angle - maybe it will fix itself...

Nope nothing happened...still waiting.

"Coffee gives me brain waves!" said Reon "Just let me finish this cup full"

"Look" shouted Janelle "Here comes our night in shining armor bearing gifts!!"
"No that is just a train" answered Andrea "Look closer" replied Janelle

and then we saw him....

But when he got closer it turned out to only be Rene biking back from the petrol station.

They poured the petrol in vigorously but.... nothing happened. Our home on wheels still wouldn't start!!

Kent and Lyndel came to the rescue...

Everybody stood back watching and waiting with much anticipation for our home on wheels to rumble back to life....nada!!

So... it ended up being towed back to Kent and Lyndels courtesy of Kent's dad's truck

Reon and Rene spent hours and hours eliminating what the problem could be...

and with the help of Delbert the retired mechanic they found out it was a bent push rod.

So that's the story... we are STILL in Kamloops (thank you Kent and Lyndel!!) but at least the boys know what the matter is now so hopefully fingers crossed we leave tonight or tomorrow morning.
Wish us luck!
Andrea xo
