THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER

We met Geoff and Nick in Mackay one Saturday as they had kindly driven up a trailer full of stuff for us.

Unpacking the trailer - very exciting!!

Unpacking the furniture

Unpacking the kitchen!

Mangos!! Its coming into mango season and everyone has tree's here. Apparently in a few weeks time everyone has Mangos coming out of there ears, they cut them up and freeze them for smoothies etc and also dehydrate them and make dried Mango - mmmm can't wait!

YUM!!

Last Saturday Melinda and I went to Adrienne's baby shower that one of her work friends organised.

Guess how many jelly beans are in the bottle.....

Cute mini cupcakes

Rob and Mel had us out for 'steam boat' the other night. They also had a couple from Canada visiting them - Dale and June (not sure of there last name)

The meat - sweat and sour beef, chicken satay, garlic, ginger and chilli beef and coconut and kafa leaves. (Note the 'fishing net' sitting on the place mat)

So this bowl sits in the middle of the table and underneath it is a flame heating the beef broth which is in the bowl. So what you do is fill your 'fishing net' with your choice of marinated meat and veges and pop it into the broth and it cooks it. Once its cooked you then dump it onto your plate of rice and then fill your net up again with another choice of   meat.  At the end of the night you drink the broth and its SO tasty as all the marinades have mixed together etc. You wouldn't want to do this with any boring or anti social visitors as it's a very slow process and makes for a long night of talking and eating. It's fun though and I really enjoyed it, although Reon was very impatient and wanted to just dump everything in and eat, typical male! ;-)

OUR WEEKEND

We caught up with some friends over the weekend down near Ayr's rock, they live on a sugar cane farm about an hour and 1/2 from Townsville. We took their four wheeler down to the river and tried to catch some baramunde but we had no luck... maybe the crocs chased them away. Salt water crocs or 'salties' as they call them and fresh water crocs or 'freshies' are often spotted in the river. While fishing we were told to always stay a couple of metres away from the river and Leighton has never come down to the river without his shot gun, just in case one decides to attack. The river is really gorgeous and clear so its a pity you can't swim in it. He said if there were only 'freshies' he'd go swimming no worries but since there's 'salties' there's not a chance!

On our way home we came across a cane fire.

Pretty sunset

On Monday Reon had an RDO (day off) so we went out wakeboarding with Rob and Mel. There are also crocs in this river but only 'freshies' so no worries.

The coral and fish were gorgeous colours!
