DENALI NATIONAL PARK - PART II
On the bus again...
You can just see the top of Mount McKinley poking through the clouds...
Arriving at wonder lake!
Setting up camp...
A picture of the end result - yes we had two tents - no we didn't sleep in either one of them! No we didn't have bed rolls - yes we slept on the frozen ground - yes it was very very cold!!
The view from under the bivouac...
Checking out wonder lake...
A pretty rainbow...
Bear proof food lockers - they had a couple of these at each camp. You had to put everything into them - food, toiletries, shoes etc. so no bears would come sniffing around your camp site. Denali was really informative about bears and tries really hard to make everyone aware of them and how you should act if you come face to face with one. They have only had a few attacks in the park but no-one killed.
This was what it looked inside...
The leaver to close the door was extra extra bear proof
There were so many squirrels at the camp and they were SO cute!
Making hot chocolate!
Reflections in the pot...
We sat on our picnic table the first evening we were there and watched the clouds drift away to reveal Mt McKinley - so awesome!!
Night time...
View from our bivouac..
We woke up in the morning (freezing cold) but to a beautiful day!
We walked down to reflection pond which is a famous pond that you can see Mt Mckinley's reflection in...
Reflection Pond...
Walking back to camp...
The entrance way into camp...
Eating breakfast..
I had such a bad sleep the night before with sleeping on the ground that I fell asleep on this plank of wood. The ground was so cold that I didn't even want to lay my arms on it...
We took a bus ride...
to the end of the road!
Then came back and relaxed at camp...
Janelle and I with Mt McKinley in the background...
I had Reon take this photo of the Autumn leaves...
Each nights they have a talk at the camp about different things - the first night was mosquito's and the second night was the history of the park which was really interesting.
The sun reflecting on the mountains...

More beautiful pictures. We did not camp out, we left Fairbanks early early, and caught the train to Denila then rode the bus through the park. We just spent 1 day there. These pictures makes me want to go back. :-))
I know it was such a beautiful place! I would love to go back sometime too!
